On the 27th of May, ABLabs held the online opening event of the project “Development of “Nordic-CNG”– new type CNG-Diesel-Water technology”. The event gathered both different interested parties, as well as project stakeholders – including Jānis Ločmelis – Director of Norwegian Financial Mechanism Department of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and Segei Faschevsky – Senior consultant, projects for Energy, Environment and Climate Mitigation at NORSK ENERGI. Sergei Faschevsky gave a broad insight into the different activities conducted by NORSK ENERGI as well as a perspective into emissions and emission calculation. Mr. Faschevsky furthermore shared different ways and possibilities of decarbonizing the transport sector, highlighting different options for heavy duty vehicles, including CNG.
Among the speakers was also Mārtiņš Zemītis, Deputy Head of European Commission Representation in Latvia of the European Commission Representation in Latvia. Mr. Zemītis delivered a stunning presentation about “European Green Deal: Sustainable Mobility and Low-Emission Fuels”. Within the presentation Mr. Zemītis highlighted the recently approved “REPowerEU” – a plan to rapidly reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels and fast forward the green transition. Within the “REPowerEU” plan, the EU has been working with international partners to diversify supplies for several months, and has secured record levels of LNG imports and higher pipeline gas deliveries. The newly created EU Energy Platform, supported by regional task forces, will enable voluntary common purchases of gas, LNG and hydrogen by pooling demand, optimizing infrastructure use and coordinating outreach to suppliers.
The event was concluded by Armands Jurjevs – Member of the Board of ABLabs, who presented the project details of the “Development of “Nordic-CNG”– new type CNG-Diesel-Water technology” project.
The project is supported by Norway through the Norway Grants.
