With the onset of the cold season, the development team is putting additional focus on the design of one of the system’s operation in extremely cold climate with air temperatures down to – 40 C. As the system operates using water and a mixture of alkane gas and water vapour, it is important to ensure that even in extremely cold conditions the mixture is formed correctly to ensure that the mixture is optimally fed into the engine air intake manifold and subsequently combusted in the engine combustion chamber.
In order to ensure that ArtuPower always operates optimally, it is also planned to develop Bluetooth communication capabilities with the driver’s smart device. Furthermore, the storage and transmission of telemetric data will be possible. This will also allow remote access for monitoring, diagnostics and algorithm updates. This functionality will allow drivers to additionally monitor vehicle data and performance. Especially in cold climates, this can give additional insight into various characteristics and fuel consumption.
The project is supported by Norway through the Norway Grants.
Within the project the “ArtuPower” product will be developed up to the level of TRL8 technology readiness level, and the project duration is expected to be 18 months. The total project budget is 132,400 EUR, with a support of 92 680 EUR is intended with the support of the “Norwegian Financial Mechanism’s small grant scheme”.
